Work experience, skills, and accomplishments

Work experience section

·         Demonstrate your past experiences can contribute to an employer’s future.

-          Identify the skills and knowledge that you can apply to a future job.

·         Devote the most space to jobs that are selected to your target position

-          List your jobs in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent (include: internship, military service, and part time or temporary jobs).

-          When listing your jobs, write down the name and the location of your employer as well as the job title and the years you worked in the job).

Activities and Achievements

·         Include activities and achievements outside of a work context only if they make you a more attractive job candidate

Example: traveling, studying community service activities that suggest leadership, teamwork, communication skills, technical aptitude, or other valuable attributes

·         If you have little or no job experience indicate the involvement in athletics or other organized student activities.

Personal data and reference

When applying to U.S companies never include:
·         Physical characteristics, age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, religious or political affiliations, race, national origin, salary history, reasons for leaving jobs, names of supervisors, name of reference, social security number, or student ID number.

·         Be sure to have a list of several references ready when you begin applying for jobs.
-          Write name and contact information on top of your reference sheet.

-          List three to four people agreed to serve as reference
-          In every reference include: person’s name, job title, organization, address, telephone number, and email address.
